Gavin Lockwood
I have supported people in their leadership roles since 2011.
In addition to running Leading for Results, I work with leaders across the New Zealand public sector as:
An Executive coach: individual coaching sessions focused on live leadership challenges.
A Team coach / facilitator: regular sessions with leadership teams focused on developing their collective leadership. I don’t facilitate one-off sessions, as they don’t enable the follow through and ongoing reflection that makes the difference.
Prior to 2011:
I was a Deputy Chief Executive at the Ministry of Fisheries
I held a range of senior roles at The Treasury (for example, I led the development of KiwiSaver across agencies and ran the Government’s Budget process for four years)
I worked at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in Canberra.
The combination of my prior experience and current work means I have an excellent understanding of the opportunities and challenges that face leaders in the New Zealand public sector, and the practical approaches that work.
I am an accredited coach, through the NeuroLeadership Group, and accredited in a range of facilitation and diagnostic tools. I have also undertaken a wide range of training related to leadership and organisation development, including Stanford University’s Executive Programme in Strategy and Organisation.
I moved here from Australia in 1996, thinking it would be for two years, and then found that Wellington is the place to be. New Zealand is very much my home, and where my two sons were born and have grown up.
